Community in Pulse

A free local directory that connects nonprofits, restaurants and neighbors, so each can help the others grow and the whole community stays active: in pulse.

Why it exists

Nonprofits need food for their events, volunteers and people who believe in their cause. Restaurants need regular customers, catering orders and a good name in their neighborhood. Neighbors want a good meal and a way to give back. They live on the same streets but rarely find each other. Community in Pulse puts them in one simple search.

How everyone helps everyone

How nonprofits, restaurants and neighbors help each other Three circles around Community in Pulse. Nonprofits order food from restaurants for events and potlucks. Restaurants cater, host give-back nights and support food drives. Neighbors find both, eat locally, donate and volunteer. EventHubQ and PinchHitterPool are the tools that make the connections work. How it works

  1. Type what you want, or nothing: the search starts near you.
  2. See local nonprofits and restaurants, nearest first, with one-tap choices to narrow down.
  3. Contact the place directly: website, phone, directions, donate or volunteer page.
  4. If we don't have it yet, you get the best place to look next, and we note the gap so it gets added.

Where the listings come from

Foursquare Open Source Places (© Foursquare Labs, Apache-2.0), IRS and NCES public records, certification bodies and state registries, and each organization's own website. A "certified" label links to the certifier; anything else is what the place says about itself. The list is refreshed daily.
